In this 2013/2014 Annual Report, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ictQATAR) highlights its accomplishments and the progress achieved towards a competitive, knowledge-based economy. Of particular note in this annual report is the launch of the National Broadband Plan, which ensures the continued, rapid deployment of high-speed, high-quality, affordable broadband—a crucial foundation for the advancement of Qatar’s ICT sector. This year also witnessed the launch of a nationwide effort to expand the quality and quantity of online services for residents, and to make government even more efficient, open, transparent, and customer-centric; and a new national cyber security strategy that will further safeguard Qatar’s networks and people from cyber threats, and ensure an open and secure cyberspace, both now and in the future. Ongoing initiatives such as Mada (the Qatar Assistive Technology Center) and our new Digital Inclusion Strategy are specifically aimed at providing all people with opportunities to benefit from ICT, regardless of their age, gender, income, location, or abilities.
